Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979. Today, the late singer would have been 31 years old.
Aaliyah, along with eight others, was killed on August 25, 2001, in a plane crash in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas, after filming the music video for "Rock The Boat."
Every year, on her birthday and anniversary of her death, I receive an email in memory of Aaliyah.
This year, her brother, Rashad, under the stage name, RAD: 6 ("Rashad and Aaliyah's Dimensions"), wrote a song called "One In A Billion," in memory of his little sister.
Words can't express my feelings for Aaliyah. Since 1994, when she first came through my speakers with "Back and Forth," I've absolutely cherished Aaliyah. She is truly missed, but lives through all of her fans.
It's über hard to choose, but here's one of my favorite videos:
Love you Bey and all, but Aaliyah will always be the first lady of the Roc. She was the hottest chick in the game, wearing his chain.
